Athena Desktop

Transcribe, work with files and produce reports on your computer, with each local capability turned on by you.

The desktop app shares accounts, projects and knowledge with the web, and adds what only a local app can do: capture meeting audio on your computer, work with files in authorised folders, and read mail and calendars. Every local action is risk-tiered to decide whether it asks you first.

Athena Desktop device permissions: local capabilities such as calendar, mail, PDF, authorised folders and sandboxed commands, each with its own switch and risk tier.

The demo computer in this screen has every capability turned on. Each local capability is off by default and is turned on per computer; command execution marked R3 still asks for your approval every time, even when enabled. Local reads such as calendar, mail, PDFs, personal files and remote data are R0 and do not ask each time, but the capability must first be turned on for that computer. Writing to the calendar or personal files is a reversible change, also R1; running terminal commands and unregistered capabilities are R3.

  1. 04.1

    Live transcription

Captures microphone and system audio, independent of the meeting app; optional translation, saved as a project meeting.

  2. 04.2

    Local files

Read and search files in authorised folders; writes, moves and deletes require write permission, confirmed per the risk tier.

  3. 04.3

    Documents

Produce PowerPoint, Word, Excel or PDF from project material and knowledge.

  4. 04.4

    Mail & calendar

Read local mail, calendars (macOS only for now) and PDFs; new events are shown to you before creation.

Device capability switches
Turn on each local capability per computer; disabled ones cannot be used. Admins can revoke any computer’s access at any time.
Local index
Index authorised folders and search them in conversation.
PDF & scanned documents
Extract PDF text and run text recognition on scans.
Sandboxed commands
Run commands in an isolated sandbox once the capability is turned on (macOS only for now).
Character mode
During voice conversations, an animated character shows listening, thinking and speaking, for classrooms and demos.

Local capabilities vary by operating system, and capturing system audio requires the OS recording permission. Verify use alongside your meeting software in your environment.
